Partnership Case Study

Parap Primary School: Study 3

Tournament of Minds pushed Parap Primary’s gifted learners into a space of genuine stretch, independence, and creative problem-solving. With no teacher assistance permitted during the six-week challenge, students relied entirely on their own collaborative thinking—and discovered capability far beyond what they imagined.

Case Summary
Working within strict constraints, students used Solution Fluency to plan, design, and deliver their Tournament of Minds challenge entirely on their own. They mapped the 6Ds, refined ideas through team dialogue, and built a compelling final performance—ultimately winning their division and representing the Northern Territory at the Australasian Pacific Finals. The project strengthened problem-solving, teamwork, and self-belief, showing students they were capable of excellence without external direction.
